Castle Grove ELC PHILOSPHY
Castle Grove Early Learning Centre believes in the ‘Montessori Philosophy’ developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, which sees the optimum development of human potential as an overriding aim. The environment is very spacious and set up to accommodate free play to encourage creativity and use of imagination. It is also a ‘prepared’ environment for the children to develop at an individual pace, with close contact to nature and natural habits.
We believe that each child is important and unique with rights and feelings. The centre recognises and acknowledges that early childhood years are a valuable stage of life establishing the correct conditions to develop the five important characteristics in life:
a sense of security
a sense of identity/self concept
a sense of belonging
a sense of purpose
a sense of personal competence
The children are encouraged to develop an understanding and appreciation of others and their rights and their diverse backgrounds. We have a vision of a world where people learn to respect, accept and embrace the differences and similarities between us.
All children are valued and treated equally by a dedicated group of educators who always provide warmth, responsiveness and positive support. We endeavour to provide an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, invites sharing of ideas, challenges and stimulates thinking/learning. We believe educators should encourage and guide children to develop their potential by believing in them as capable individuals. We believe in assisting and empowering children to discover who they are, so they can express their opinions and nurture their own ideas.
We believe that all Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal children will be benefit from Aboriginal education and the service programs will regularly include Aboriginal education. We acknowledge Aboriginal people are the first people of this nation and whenever possible, relevant Aboriginal communities will be contacted to gain accurate and relevant knowledge to be included in the daily programs of our service.
Our center practices sustainable methods to include conservation of water , electricity, paper and the natural environment while using the guidelines issued by authorities
